The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

IDF invites East European producers to register under East European umbrella at the Sunny Side of the Doc market. Thanks to the deal between IDF and SSoD, East European producers get special conditions: 50% discount for first-time participants and 30% for others. The offer is intended for all East European producers. Filmmakers from Romania and Poland may also register with their national stands.

What we offer:

1) Registration Discount:

  • 50% discount off the standard registration fee for new-coming East European producers (standard price EUR 559.73, incl. VAT) - The fee allows participation at Sunny Side of the Doc for one person + listing of 2 projects in the Catalogue, or 2 completed films in the digital Video Library.
  • 30% discount off the standard registration fee for producers who have already attended the market
  • 25% discount on a 2nd company registration (standard price EUR 311, incl. VAT)

 

2) Arranged and On-site Consultation with Experts

  • Thanks to the partnership of IDF and Sunny Side of the Doc, producers will be able to consult their projects or films with selected experts who will be able to suggest contacts for professionals they should meet or pitch their projects or films to.

 

3) 5 Projects at the Pitching Forum

  • IDF will select up to 5 East European projects that - after paying the discounted registration fee - will receive free participation at the pitching forum, organized by SSoD for the first time this year. Under the agreement between IDF and SSoD, the five projects will be selected directly, bypassing the standard selection procedure.

Participants may apply until April 30, 2009. The registration process includes two stages:
1) Registration with the IDF Stand - send all information about projects and films submitted + contact details to

2) Registration at the Sunny Side of the Doc website

Both parts of the registration process must be completed by April 30, 2009.
