Ana Lungu was born in 1978 in Bucharest, Romania. She studied Psychology and Film Directing. In 2010, together with Ana Szel, she directed "The Belly of the Whale" selected in Locarno's "Filmmakers of the Present" Competition. Her debut feature film "Self-Portrait of a Dutiful Daughter" premiered in Rotterdam IFF in 2015 and won "The Best Fiction Film" at the Crossing Europe Film Festival, Linz. Since then it was also selected in various other international film festivals such as: Sao Paulo IFF, Cineast Luxembourg, Belfort Entrevues, New Films New Directors etc.
