Gone Guy

We all often yearn for a break from all the burdens and chaos of our modern lives - a moment to put everything on hold: plans, obligations, worries, expectations, the stream of disheartening news, and just… leave.
And sometimes, we act on that impulse: we call in sick for the day; we go on a spontaneous holiday, or even take a sabbatical year.
Getting away from it all always has its benefits, from relaxation and recharging, to finding a sense of freedom, growth and fulfillment.
After each such interlude, we return happier, extra determined and better equipped to face life's everyday trials.
But what if we dared to never return? To continue to wander, giving up on everything that’s expected from us?
That’s precisely what Radu did: as soon as he graduated from a prestigious Canadian college, instead of landing a well paid engineer job, he took off on an adventure of such monumental proportions that it’s hardly imaginable.
Alone on his bicycle, with minimal preparation and almost no money, he cycled the two Americas, in 3 years and 3 months, zig-zagging through all of the countries of the two continents, totalling a staggering 34.554 kilometers, from the North of Alaska to the Southern tip of Argentina.
At the onset of his voyage, Radu was a hypochondriac and short-sighted young man, grappled with heartbreak, childhood traumas, and a sense of alienation (intensified by his family's migration from Romania to Canada).
Yet, at the journey’s end, across the expanse of the world map, Radu emerges as a true explorer, about to meet his soul-mate, already planning his next adventure, determined to embrace his new life as a full-time globetrotter.
Gone Guy is a cinematic journey through a tapestry of landscapes, challenges, adventures and encounters. It’s an adrenaline-filled, inspirational and uplifting documentary, yet it also delves into themes of solitude, overcoming traumas, the discovery and understanding of one’s true self and that of the complex world we all live in.
