The first international mountain film festival in Korea is held. ‘Mountain film’ sounds unfamiliar to Koreans, but there are many mountain film festivals with long history. The Trento Film Festival, the oldest mountain film festival that started under the foot of Alps in 1952, and the Banff Film Festival, launched at Rocky Mountains of Canada in 1976, are representative mountain film festivals. Korea, 70% of whose land is mountains, is going to have its first mountain film festival. In September 2016, the Ulju Mountain Film Festival is going to take the first step at Yeongnam Alps.
