Synopsis
The term “Mule” is used to describe a person who smuggles drugs across a border.
The Mules – a film about how much a moment is worth ... madness. This is a story about the significance of a moment in human life. The film tells a story of three Lithuanians, who fell victims to a momentary lapse of reason and currently serve their terms in Peru prisons for drug trafficking. By following their daily lives and dissecting their deepest motivations, the film reconstructs the breaking point which turns young, optimistic, people into mere beasts of burden. What happened? How have their lives changed? Will they return back? When? How?
After several years of intense research and negotiations, filmmakers not only managed to enter Peruvian prisons, but even get permission to film there.
