Magdalena Żelasko, originally from Poland, has been living in Vienna for about 20 years now. The certified marketing and advertising expert studied Slavic studies, journalism and communication sciences at the University of Vienna, which she rounded up with a Ph.D. She has worked as a manager for several international companies, as a journalist for various Austrian and Polish media as well as the university lecturer with focus on culture and communication. Together with Wolfgang P. Schwelle she has been managing the International LET’S CEE Film Festival in Vienna, founded by both of them 2012. Since its first instalment in 2012, the LET‘S CEE Film Festival has been providing an exclusive and attractive stage for Central and Eastern European cinematography. While the historical and geographical proximity to Austria might suggest otherwise, films from those countries have had a hard time finding their way into Austrian cinemas. The LET‘S CEE Film Festival’s programme features a selection of the best current feature films and documentaries as well as promising short films, all of which take part in the festival‘s film competitions.
